Automate Repetitive Tasks

Advanced robotics and automation systems make manufacturing faster, safer, and more cost-effective. Robotic integration is the future and, in many cases, the present of manufacturing processes. By implementing end-of-line robotics, our customers have been able to increase line throughput and consistency while reallocating valuable labor resources to more complex and creative tasks.

Advantages

Robotic automation systems offer several distinct advantages. They increase productivity, reduce production costs, offer flexibility, and streamline packaging for manufacturers.

Some additional advantages of end-of-line robotic solutions include:

  • Flexibility: Complex robotics systems and software can handle a wide variety of materials and requirements without significant downtime or the need to reprogram.
  • Accuracy and Consistency: Robots follow instructions step-by-step without deviation, and smart systems can handle variables and self-correct in many cases. They also run without fatigue, distraction, or human error.
  • Scalability: Your robotic system can run faster and continuously, according to the scale of demand. You can also modify your system to incorporate other related pieces of equipment to a central control system to increase your output.
  • Increased Throughput: Changing to an automated robotic system makes your production schedule more streamlined and predictable. This consistency will allow you to meet quotas and have orders ready on time, thereby optimizing the overall supply chain.
  • Reduced Labor Costs: Robots reduce the demand for repetitive manual labor, which reduces staffing costs and allows technicians to perform other tasks. With robotic integration, your company can accomplish more with fewer personnel.
  • Improved Safety: By switching to robotic processes and machinery, your employees will have less exposure to sharp, heavy, or rapidly moving equipment. Improved ergonomics protect workers and reduce liability and healthcare-related costs for your business.
  • Less Damage to Products: Robotic systems have sensors and are programmed to execute precise, careful movements to keep products intact. Their picking, placing, and packaging process is meticulous and ensures items are protected throughout each step of the operation.

Applications

Some of the most common applications for end-of-line robotic solutions include:

  • Packaging and Palletizing Operations
  • Tray and Case Packing
  • Pharmaceutical Packaging
  • Material Handling
  • Food and Beverage Packaging
  • Distribution Center Operations

Different Types of Robots

To meet the varied needs of different tasks and industries, robotic systems come in many forms.

Here are a few common types of robots:

  • Articulated Arm: An articulated arm can be used for wrapping, boxing, and pick-and-place tasks that sort products into different categories. They can identify, grasp, and move goods around from a fixed position or conveyor belt.
  • Gantry: Gantry robots are like arms but are fixed to a rail. This allows for quick linear movement that can be used on a wide range of applications.
  • SCARA: Selective Compliance Articulated Robot Arm (SCARA) robots are used for small assembly systems. They can handle a wide variety of tasks because of their ability to move about the X, Y, and Z axes at high speeds.
  • Delta/Parallel Link: Delta robots, also known as “spider robots”, are more humanoid and have a bio-mimicking design. They have multiple arms connected to a single base, operate quickly, and are commonly used in pick-and-place systems.
  • Collaborative: Collaborative robots replicate human motions and do not require guarding. They are typically slower but operate within the same space as humans and are easy to program.
